Strapping Machine Troubleshooting

huishou 280

To successfully troubleshoot a strapping machine, you must first isolate the failure to one of three core systems: Feeding, Sealing, or Tensioning. If the machine won’t feed, immediately check the pool box for tangled strap and clean accumulated strap dust from the proximity sensors (LS1/LS2) and feed rollers. If the strap isn’t sealing, inspect the heater blade for carbon residue buildup and ensure the heater temperature dial is set between position 3 and 4. If tension is weak, check for wear on the tension feed roller and ensure the gripper is holding the strap firmly. In 90% of cases, performing a full Home Position Reset (cycling the machine without strap) and cleaning the slide table with compressed air will resolve the error without needing new parts.

Three Core Systems

As long as you can judge whether the failure occurred in the stage of tape feeding, ironing and sticking or tightening, you have already succeeded in half, and you can directly lock the specific parts that need to be done.

Troubleshooting Of Belt Delivery

If the machine can’t send the packing tape through the arch or wrap it around the package, it’s about the tape delivery system. According to the standard maintenance process, the focus should be on “physical blockage” and “sensor false alarm.

Check The Reservoir Box:

The most common cause of tape jamming is not mechanical failure at all, but purely tape winding. Open the belt storage box (that is, the chamber where the belt is stored) and take a look. If the belt is twisted or knotted, how is it possible to get in and send the pulley? Cut the knotted section and put the belt back on.

Clean The Proximity Sensor (LS1/LS2):

The machine relies on sensors LS1 and LS2 to sense the position of the belt. These things are particularly sensitive to “packing dust”-the kind of fine polypropylene powder ground down during operation. If the sensor is covered by dust, the machine will “think” the belt is full and naturally refuse to send the belt. Just take a dry soft cloth and wipe the sensor clean.

Check The Feed Rollers:

The belt wheel is the “hand” of the machine, which is responsible for pushing the belt forward. If the tooth groove of the wheel is filled with dust or debris, it will slip on the smooth surface of the belt. Clean up the tooth groove to ensure enough friction for the belt to run through the arch smoothly.

Troubleshooting Of Scalding And Sticking (The Packing Tape Cannot Stick)

If the tape delivery and tightening are normal, but the tape breaks apart as soon as it is laid, it is the problem with the scalding unit. This is almost 100% related to the application of “heat.

Check The Heater Blade:

The hot knife is responsible for melting the head to make them bond. Over time, the melted plastic will form a layer of carbon residue on the blade. This layer of black stuff acts like an insulator, blocking heat from passing to the tape. To the naked eye, if the blade is black or crusted, it must be carefully cleaned or polished to reveal the true color of the metal.

Confirm The Temperature Setting:

The wrong temperature is also common. Too low to melt, too high to scorch and brittle plastic. For most models, I recommend that the heating temperature knob be set between positions 3 and 4. This range is usually the perfect balance for standard polypropylene (PP) strapping.

Tighten Troubleshooting

The strap was tied, but it hung loosly on the box, indicating that the tightening mechanism failed to effectively pull the excess strap back.

Check The Tension Wheel:

The belt wheel is responsible for pushing, and this elder brother is responsible for pulling. It is subjected to great pressure and friction. Take a closer look at the teeth on the wheel. If the teeth are smoothed (Smoothed Down), the wheel will spin and cannot hold the belt at all. The tightening force is naturally zero.

Check The Clamp:

The job of the clamp is to bite the front end of the strap when the tension wheel pulls the strap back. If the clamp is loose or worn, the strap will slip out as soon as it is tightened. Before the cutter action, you must ensure that the clamp is in a tight state.

Troubleshooting methods for strapping machines

“90% Repair Law”: Reset And Clean

Home Position Reset:

Sometimes the electronic logic is confused, or the mechanical cam is stuck halfway, and the machine freezes. The so-called “origin reset” is to run the machine cycle without loading the packing belt. This can force the cam and gear back to the neutral starting position, clearing logic errors.

Cleaning The Slide Table:

The skateboard is the core area of the belt, where dirt is most easily hidden, full of debris and dust. Take an air gun (Compressed Air) and blow at the entire skateboard assembly. Clean up these debris, can prevent physical Caton, let the skateboard move smoothly.

As long as you do it step by step-starting with resetting and cleaning, and then isolating specific subsystems-you’ll find that trying to get your machine back to full blood is often both quick and economical.
