Doypack Packaging Machine

Blog 190

The doypack packaging machine is the automated solution specifically designed for prefabricated self-standing bags, responsible for the complete 1 of grabbing, opening, filling and sealing. Unlike the vertical filling and sealing system (VFFS), which starts with a roll of film, the design of this machine is very clear: it is for the ultimate shelf display effect and flexibility.

From the control level, this kind of equipment is usually driven by a precision PLC system, using 8-station or 10-station intermittent rotating mechanism. By integrating with a specific metering system (such as a combination scale for granules, a screw metering machine for powders, or a piston pump for liquids), it can easily reach speeds of 30 to 60 packs per minute while maintaining high precision.

But the core value of this machine is not just speed. Its real power lies in cost control: significantly reduce labor costs, minimize material waste, and ensure the integrity of the airtight seal. Typically, based on the sanitary standards of SS304 stainless steel construction and equipment durability, companies can see a real return on investment (ROI) within 12 to 18 months.

Doypack And VFFS

The biggest difference between a Doypack packaging machine and a VFFS system is that it handles “ready-made bags” rather than “ready-made bags”.

High-end aesthetics : This is especially important at the high end of the market. Because prefabricated bags are produced in advance by professional bag factories , their printing quality, special shapes, rounded corners, high-quality zippers and other complex processes are difficult to compare with online bag making. The task of this machine is to ensure that this “high-level feeling” is not destroyed during the packaging process.

Flexibility : VFFS machines are usually limited to pillow bags or corner bags, while this rotating solution is tailored for self-standing bags , flat bags and suction nozzle bags. If your brand values shelf appeal and consumer convenience, this is definitely a more ideal choice.

8-Station Rotating System

The efficiency of this machine is mainly due to its intermittent rotation mechanism, which is usually configured with 8 or 10 stations. Under the precise control of PLC, each station performs specific tasks synchronously, and the workflow is very smooth.

It dismantle the simple “take, open, fill and seal” in great detail:

  • Bag Loading: The machine accurately grabs a single pre-made bag from the bag bin.
  • Coding: through the inkjet printer or thermal transfer printer, printed on the bag shelf life or batch number.
  • Zipper opening : If the bag has a zipper, the mechanical claw will open it safely at this step.
  • Bag opening and blowing : This is the key step. The suction cup opens the mouth of the bag while compressed air is blown in to ensure that the bottom corner is fully expanded. If the bottom is not opened, the standing effect will be greatly reduced.
  • Primary filling: The product is put into a bag.
  • Secondary filling/settling: Used to add a second material (such as nitrogen protection), or to let the material settle by vibration to prevent overflow.
  • Heat seal: heat seal closed bag mouth, to ensure air tightness.
  • Cooling and output : The seal is cooled and shaped, and the finished product is Doypack discharged to the conveyor belt.

Precision weighing or multi-head scales ensure consistent bag weight, with quality sensors enhancing packaging accuracy.

Automatically complete the processes of bag making, measuring, filling, sealing, bag cutting, etc., greatly improving the packaging speed.

Diversified Integration: Handle Any Material

It can seamlessly interface with various metering systems. Which one to choose depends entirely on the physical characteristics of the product:

  • For pellets (combo scale): When packing snacks, nuts or frozen foods, I would recommend a multi-head combo scale . This can meet the high-speed requirements of 30-60 packs/minute, while ensuring absolute precision in weight.
  • For powders (screw metering machines): For products such as flour, coffee or spices, a screw metering machine is standard. Its screw design can effectively reduce dust and control volume accuracy.
  • For liquids/sauces (piston pumps): When packaging sauces, detergents or drinks, we use piston pumps. Here is a detail to pay attention to. It usually needs to be matched with a special anti-drip nozzle to ensure the cleanliness of the sealing area, otherwise it will not only affect the seal, but also be ugly.
The packaging machine can handle a variety of materials.

ROI Analysis: Health, Reduction, Loss Control

Investing in a Doypack packaging machine is not just a technology upgrade, it is a strategic financial decision. The aforementioned 12-to 18-month return on investment cycle is achieved primarily through the following 3 dimensions:

  • Reduce labor costs: This automated solution can replace multiple operators, and one machine can usually do the work of four to five manual packers, drastically reducing wages.
  • Minimize material waste: Today’s PLC systems are smart and equipped with “no bag, no fill” sensors. If the bag is not opened correctly, the machine will not unpack or attempt to seal it. This means that you will neither waste expensive products nor scrap packaging bags.
  • Hygiene and durability: The whole machine is made of SS304 stainless steel, which meets strict food safety standards (GMP/HACCP). This durability not only reduces the follow-up maintenance costs, but also extends the service life of the equipment, and further guarantees the investment value.
